Lake Koocanusa Boat Launch

Lake Koocanusa Boat Launch

The Regional District of East Kootenay – along with their project partners, including BC Hydro – were eager to have the new boat launch ready for the bustling summer season. We were able to successfully complete the project by:

  • Creating a mix that would allow for aggressive anti-slip grooving
  • Accommodating a tight timeline and last-minute changes to the mix

Not only was the boating season fast approaching, the water level of Lake Koocanusa was rising rapidly. Combined with a 75-minute travel distance, we started the job with some time pressures to contend with. This was compounded when, at the eleventh hour, the concrete finishers needed an aggregate size change to accommodate a special groove cutter, necessitating a change to everything else in the mix. We adapted quickly to deliver the required product, allowing for the essential anti-slip grooving of the two-lane public boat launch.
